British Longhair are easy going, adaptable, affectionate and love to cuddle. They get along with children and cat friendly dogs making them a great addition to any home. The British Longhair is a mix of British Shorthair and Persian, offering the unique coat features of a Persian and the temperament of a British Shorthair.
Size: this breed is physically stout with a beautiful coat. It also has a round head and big round eyes and short ears. Her legs are strong but short and the tail is thick and plush. This cat breed has deep chest making it a medium sized cat.
Temperament & Personality: These smiling cats enjoy attention, are normally quiet, but occasionally have bursts of crazed activity before changing back into your affectionate, dignified friend. They get along with children and cat-friendly dogs.
Activity Requirements: It is important to encourage playtime and exercise as these cats are they are less active. They need and enjoy the company of people and other cats or pets to keep active with.
Breed Traits: The British Longhair cat is actually a long-haired version of the British Shorthair.
Diet: 1/4 to 1/3 cup per feeding up to about 8 wks. 1/3 cup to 3/4 cup per feeding up to 6 months and beyond, depending on weight. Research shows that adult cats need a minimum of 26 percent protein in their diet.
Grooming Requirements: Require daily grooming to keep its striking coat in good condition. If the grooming process is started as a kitten they soon become used to it and enjoy the attention it brings. Daily attention will prevent a build up of knots and the fight that comes to remove tangles and matts from a neglected coat. Brush the teeth to prevent periodontal disease. Daily dental hygiene is best, but weekly brushing is better than nothing. Trim the nails weekly. In addition, the flat face must be cleaned regularly and carefully as tear stains can be deposited on the face.
